Do you want to hit crisp iron shots? Here is my latest golf video. Read more

Chipping

The Chip and Run Shot is one of the first shots that I teach beginner golfers.  It is a shot that all golfers need to be good at.  It is a shot that is used every time you just miss the putting surface and end up around the green.  Not only is it easy to execute but it is very versatile and can be played with any number of clubs.

Follow these simple steps:

checkmark01 Start with your weight well forward and you feet close together chipping set up

checkmark01 Grip low on the club

checkmark01 Move the hands forward over your leading leg with the shaft leaning toward the target

checkmark01 Use a swinging motion with the arms hands and club back and forth similar to a putting stroke.

checkmark01 Work on a ratio of  1/3 air time 2/3 ground time for all clubs from SW to 6 iron

checkmark01 Find out how far the ball will run with each club

Make time to practice this shot.
